yesterday and I over heard them saying that Christina lip-syncs her
songs and that is why she does not have another CD out yet. I love
Christina's voice and I know this is not true. I do not know how to
speak Spanish but I bought the Latino CD just to hear her sing. I
know there is no way this could be true and I would like if she would
just set the record straight on this.
Also did Christina lip-synch on 'Saturday Night Live' ?
Shelly: Hi Kimberley. No, Christina
does NOT lip-sync her songs at all. Especially during her tour,
you will never see her lip-sync even one song. The ONLY time she
agrees to do that is when it's a performance where the technical
decisions are out of her control and she's not given a choice. There
are places where she's made appearances that absolutely did not
allow her to perform without lip-syncing, although these are very
rare. One example was the 2000 Super Bowl. Every artist there was
required to lip-sync their track - something to do with the echo.
But as I said, that is quite rare. Christina
detests the idea of lipsyncing.
Christina prides herself on singing live
whenever and wherever she can. It may just be that her performance
was so good on 'Saturday Night Live' that some people think she
must have lip-synced. Christina absolutely sang 'I Turn To You,'
'What A Girl Wants' and 'At Last' live on not only SNL, but also
at VH1's 'Men Strike Back,' and Rosie O'Donnell. Even when she was
just launching her solo career, she sang 'Reflection' from Disney's
Mulan soundtrack live on CBS This Morning.
And how would lip-syncing keep someone from
recording an album anyway? The artists who are known for lip-syncing
perform to their own tracks, so lip-syncing doesn't mean they can't
sing in a studio. Tell your local DJs that this rumor makes no sense
- it's just silly. By the way, Christina is in the studio working
on completing her album. Before that, she just took a short break.
But now, she is always in the studio. That's why you haven't seen
her much for a while.
