Reviews

"Immaculately crafted pop tunes.. making this an early contender for the power pop album of the year. Take a listen and I'm pretty sure you'll agree." - Steve [AbsolutePowerpop]

"This one is for the high-fidelity freaks... the extraordinary arrangements and instrumentation - including wurlitzer, mellotron, ukelele, tuba, bicycle wheel - shine through and sweep you away. There are just no boring parts - lovely Beatle-y bits keep weaving in and out." - Beth [Providence Daily Dose]

"Despite rarely having any quick tempos, the songwriting and performances keep things from getting dull. So without any duds amongst the ten tracks, this definitely stands as a contender for my top ten list for 2013." -Aaron [Powerpopaholic]

Eric Barao is a singer-songwriter from Massachusetts. He is a graduate of Berklee College of Music with a degree in songwriting.

In 2000, Eric co-founded the powerpop/rock band The Cautions with guitarist/songwriter Jeff Caglarcan. In 2001, they released a critically-acclaimed debut EP, and had risen to top 10 finalists in the AMA New Music Awards, a national contest sponsored by Dick Clark, Coca-Cola, CMJ and The American Music Awards. In 2005, they released their full-length follow-up album Proceed With...The Cautions, and continued to perform throughout the Northeast.

Eric currently performs as The Eric Barao Band with a lineup of veteran musicians from the Boston/Providence area, including Matt Boynton, Carlene Barous, Matt Lydon & Matt Gillooly. Eric has also recorded music for radio and television, and film soundtracks including the indie film Turbocharged. He also contributed music for the film Balls of Fury, starring Christopher Walken. Eric appears on several albums by powerpop artist Bleu, Bostonís Air Traffic Controller, L.E.O. (an homage to Electric Light Orchestra featuring Bleu, Andy Sturmer of Jellyfish, Mike Viola and others).

About the debut album (2013):
Co-produced by powerpop icon Bleu, Eric's debut solo album blends clever lyrics with indelible melodies to form an instant powerpop classic. The album features many guest musicians spanning Ericís musical career over the last decade. Recorded and mastered by Grammy Award winner Ducky Carlisle (Norah Jones, Buddy Guy, Susan Tedeschi).
