Shelly Yakus is considered
one of the best engineers and mixers in the music industry.
Formerly Chief Engineer and Vice President of A&M Recording
and Vice President of The Record Plant NYC, Shelly has engineered
some of the most successful and iconic recordings in history
from John Lennon's 'Imagine' to U2's 'Rattle and Hum' to
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' 'Damn the Torpedos,' and
is credited with selling in excess of one hundred million
records, equaling over one billion dollars in sales. He
was nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame in 1999.
Shelly has engineered recordings
for many performers, including Van Morrison, Alice Cooper,
The Band, Blue Oyster Cult (Shelly mixed the actual 'more
cowbell' moment), The Ramones, Dire Straits, Don Henley,
Madonna, Stevie Nicks, The Pointer Sisters, Lou Reed, Bob
Seger, Patti Smith, Suzanne Vega, Warren Zevon, and Elliott
Murphy. His early work as an assistant engineer included
sessions with Dionne Warwick, Peter, Paul & Mary, Frankie
Valli & The Four Seasons, Count Basie & His Orchestra, and
Frank Sinatra.
