Rock superstar turned jazz guitarist, Jay Geils from the legendary J. Geils Band, lays down tight, four-to-the-floor rhythm guitar for his fellow bandmates.

A member of the concert attraction New Guitar Summit along with Gerry Beaudoin and blues legend Duke Robillard, Jay shows his affinity and skill in soloing in the tradition of the great American jazz guitar masters. The New Guitar Summit is signed to Stony Plain Records in Edmonton, Canada and has released two acclaimed recordings to date.

The legion of music fans that made the J. Geils Band one of the top attractions in rock and roll history and bought over 16 million recordings, have not been disappointed in Jay's career switch. Whether it is the New Guitar Summit, The Kings Of Strings or the Gerry Beaudoin-Jay Geils Quintet, the sold-out concerts show that the fans continue to come out to support this American music icon.

Jay has released his first solo jazz recording 'Jay Geils Plays Jazz' on the Stony Plain label and has been nominated twice for his work with the legendary J. Geils Band for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

More about the Members of The Kings Of Strings

Award-winning jazz guitarist Gerry Beaudoin (1992 National Association of Independent Record Distributors Honorable Mention in the traditional jazz category - 1993 and 1995 CADENCE EDITORS CHOICE AWARD / Placed on ballot for a Grammy Award nomination consideration - 1998) is introducing the most exciting and creative group of his distinguished career. The band leader, arranger and producer of the critically acclaimed Boston Jazz Ensemble, Gerry has always been a fan of acoustic music. A disciple of mandolin virtuoso David Grisman, who has appeared as the guest artist of the Gerry Beaudoin Trio on two award-winning recordings ('Minor Swing' and 'Just Among Friends'), Gerry formed the Kings Of Strings to go back to his acoustic-jazz roots. Gerry has appeared on over forty recordings and performed or recorded with many jazz and blues luminaries including Howard Alden, Bucky and John Pizzarelli, Eddie Cleanhead Vinson, Jay McShann, Carol Sloan, Dick Johnson, leader of the Artie Shaw Band, Fred Lipsius from the seminal jazz-rock group Blood Sweat and Tears, Alan Dawson and Randy Bachman from the Guess Who and Bachman Turner Overdrive. Since 1994, Gerry and his longtime collaborator Jay Geils have toured the USA and Canada, thrilling audiences with their brand of mainstream, roots-oriented American jazz. The Kings Of Strings were chosen in 2007 and 2008 to represent the Statesman Of Jazz organization in concerts across the country.

Longtime Gerry Beaudoin bassist Bob Nieske, holds the bottom down, and also contributes creative, interesting solos. A graduate of the New England Conservatory Of Music with a Masters degree in composition, Bob is also the Jazz Artist In Residence at the prestigious Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. Bob has performed or recorded with a such notable jazz legends as guitarists Larry Coryell, Charlie Byrd, legendary jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli, chamber jazz reed man and composer Jimmy Guiffre, and blues guitarists Ronnie Earl and Duke Robillard. A composer of note, Bob has even recorded his own compositions with the world famous Lydian String Quartet.

Aaron Weinstein, a 20-year old jazz violin and mandolin sensation, has become the latest member of the Kings Of Strings. His talent is far mature than one would expect at such a young age. With technique and tone reminiscent of jazz violin legend Stephane Grappelli, he has performed with jazz guitar legend Bucky Pizzarelli and John Pizzarelli as well as Skitch Henderson, Frank Vignola, Claude Fiddler Williams, Johnny Frigo, and the legendary Les Paul.
