Al Gomes and A. Michelle of Big Noise produced
the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack CD for the film 'Le
Chase' featuring Andrew M. Chukerman's award-winning musical
score.
The soundtrack was placed
on the Official Ballot for the 49th Annual Grammy Awards by The
Recording Academy for Album
of the Year, Record of the Year ('Flapunco'), Song of the
Year ('Flapunco'), Best Pop Instrumental Performance ('End
Title from Le Chase'), Best Score Soundtrack Album for Motion
Picture, Television or Other Visual Media, and Best Song
Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media
('Flapunco').
The award-winning French farce,
'Le Chase' was directed by Scott Teems and playwright Charlie
Shanian. Actress Tori Spelling executive produced
the film. Score composer Andrew M. Chukerman (TV's 'Frasier,'
'Murphy Brown,' 'Charmed') has created a classic soundtrack
evoking the works of Henry Mancini, Burt Bacharach, and
John Barry. Chukerman recalls the great scores of the '50s
and '60s that defined the complete movie-watching experience.
The soundtrack also features the song 'Flapunco' with lyrics
and vocals by Lisa Zane of TV's 'ER.'
For his past work, Andrew received the Richard Rogers Award, whose selection panel is chaired by Stephen Sondheim. Andrew also arranged and performed keyboards on Rod Stewart's Grammy Award-winning CD series, 'The Great American Songbook.'
On A Personal Note - Al Gomes:
"I produced the World Premiere screening of 'Le Chase' in Providence, RI as part of a 'Actors - Directors Showcase' which also included films directed by actors Gwyneth Paltrow and Tiffani Thiessen.
After the screening, a wildly popular event called WaterFire hosted a party for all of us. WaterFire attracts thousands of spectators by combining over 80 bonfires in braziers set to ambient music along the Providence River in Rhode Island's capital city.
I asked WaterFire creator Barnaby Evans if he would play a suite of music from 'Le Chase,' and he said yes. I made sure that Andrew M. Chukerman and I were sitting on the edge of the Providence River when his music was played. Barnaby happened to be standing near the same spot as us, and I introduced Barnaby to Andrew. Barnaby looked at Andrew and put his finger to his lips and said, 'Shh...just listen,' and walked away.
Andrew's music from 'Le Chase' came on, filling the City of Providence with sound up and down the river which tens thousands of people were hearing and listening to. I turned to Andrew and tears were running down his cheeks. I said, 'Are you OK?' Andrew said, 'When I was a child, I used to dream that someday my music would be heard all along the banks of a giant river in a big city filled with people. And Al - you just made that dream come true.' I was stunned. Andrew was so grateful for what had just happened. These inspirational and incredible moments with the artists I work with are why I am blessed to do what I do."
