Jenna writes: Hello Shelly! How are you? I visit Christina's
Official Website on a weekly basis and I always enjoy reading and
looking and the new stuff that has been added. I'm such a devoted
fan of Christina's. I think she is so inspirational, and being able
to actually write an e-mail to her Mum just blows my mind!
And I would really like to congratulate you on the time and effort
you must put into the website! You're absolutely amazing! I have
a question that I was hoping you might answer for me.
I watched the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics and of course
Christina's awesome performance. I instantly fell in love with her
new song 'Infatuation,' but as I was listening to the lyrics I noticed
they said 'Mama used to warn me / to beware those Latin lovers /
she said I gave my heart too soon / and that's how I became your
mother.' I hope you don't mind me asking, but I was just wondering
if this is any connection with you, as Christina's father is Latin,
isn't he?
Thanks again for all the wonderful things you do! Keep up the good
work!
Love From Jenna!

Shelly: Hello Jenna! Thank you so much for your kind words.
It truly does mean a lot to me. And no, I don't mind your asking
at all. Actually, the words to 'Infatuation' -- the story it tells
-- is fiction, not true. It was, however, inspired in some areas
by our lives. I did warn her about men, as all mothers do their
daughters, and to be careful about giving her heart away too soon.
I didn't swoon and accidentally become pregnant by her Latin father,
as the song would infer, however. We were already married when I
found out I was expecting Christina. And of course, Latin men have
had influence over both of us in our lives, which have taught us
rich lessons in life as well.
I hope this helps.
