A fan writes: Wow, hello Shelly!
I am a huge fan of Christina's! I was wondering - in the beginning
of her career, her being Hispanic wasn't really advertised or talked
about as much as it is now. Was she waiting for the right time or
was this not important till now? By the way, how are you?
Christina's mom Shelly: I'm fine, thank you! And thank you
so much for being a fan and for your wonderful support. Actually,
Christina was always talking about her heritage and her father being
from South America, and how she wanted some day to record in Spanish.
She said it in interview after interview.
It's just that nobody paid much attention to her and the media,
half the time, didn't even report it that much---until she actually
did do what she stated she'd do all along, and recorded in Spanish.
Then it was splashed all over the place. So actually, it was the
media who acted as if it wasn't important before, not her. She kept
the same plan throughout.
Take care,
Shelly
