Christina spoke fondly about Japan
during a press conference, when she was presented with a bouquet
of flowers from a life-size version of cult Japanese character Hello
Kitty.
The 19-year-old singer expressed her excitement
over her two Grammy nominations. In the first she is up against
Madonna for Best Female Pop Vocalist but it's the nomination
for Best Latin Pop Album that thrills her the most.
Christina's Spanish-language long-player, which she
recorded last year, takes her back to her Ecuadorian ancestry.
She says of its release: "It's really nice to be recognized
for my first Latin album 'Mi Reflejo'. I'm really excited
that I was recognized for that this year."
"It's a whole growing and learning experience, to understand
my background and where I came from, and just continue to go
further."
The video for 'Pero Me Acuerdo De Ti'
('Then I Remember You') was set for American release in mid-February
2001.
